How to upgrade a 7.3 or earlier version of NetVault to 8.5 or higher. (81747)

The 7.3 or earlier versions of NetVault cannot be directly upgraded to NetVault 8.5 or greater. You must upgrade to the previous release before upgrading to 8.5 or greater.

 

Database and process changes between 7.3 and 8.5.x mean that a direct upgrade path is not possible.

version 7.4.5 and later can upgrade directly to 8.5.x and newer releases

 

1. You will need to download the 8.2.2 version of NetVault from our ftp site. Contact support to get the appropriate software for your OS.


2. Download your 8.2.2 release to the NetVault server. Decompress the file and proceed with the upgrade procedure as described in section 8.3 of the NetVault Backup Installation and Upgrade guide:

(Make sure to do the NetVault Database backup first)

3. Once you have successfully upgraded to version 8.2.2, you can proceed with the upgrade to 8.5 +. Again, from the 'Download New Releases' link at the top of the Dell home page in self service tools, click on Download New Releases

4. Download your 8.5+ release to the NetVault server. Decompress the file and proceed with the upgrade procedure as described in section 8.3 of the NetVault Backup Installation and Upgrade guide:
