Description: Title: Configuring NetVault Devices after replacement
due to failures with a tape drive and/or Library.
You may find that your device fails after a period of time. Your hardware vendor will either send you a new replacement, or repair the existing device. Below is a procedure to configure NetVault with this newly repaired or replaced device. This applies to a Library, its tape drives, or Stand alone tape drives.
Problems will occur if the device is simply replaced and not then added into NetVault. If you swap any drives in the Library, you must remove the Library from Netvault and then re-add the Library and its drives, thus reflecting the new Drive or Library replacement.
If you replace a device and do not re-add this new tape drive or Library , NetVault will still be pointing to the old device and it's specific serial number or firmware.
We always recommend once the new device has been replaced to go through the process of re-adding the Library or tape drive back into NetVault so that NetVault sees the new changes.
