Description: Incremental Jobs backing up same amount of data as a Full.
Symptoms: If incremental/differential jobs backup the same amount of data as the fulls it may be a problem with the 'Backup Options' set that is being used.
If the 'Backup Options' set is created and saved on Unix/Linux then applied to any windows clients, NetVault will not be able to read it properly and thus will resort to doing a FULL job each time. This is also true if the 'Backup Options" set is created and saved for a Windows and then applied (Loaded) on a backup job for a Linux client.
To resolve this, open the incremental job in the Edit/view screen.
Select the 'Modify' check box in the lower right corner.
Select 'Modify' again from the pop-up window.
Select the client again and open the file system plugin just to verify the selections are the same.
Then go to the backup options screen and select the appropriate options. You might notice that the Backup options screen looks different for a Windows machine verses a Linux machine. The selections for Linux are all centered whereas Windows Backup options are in sections.
Save the backup options set by clicking the 'Save As" button. You may want to indicate the OS platform in the name of the 'Backup Options' set. For example "Linux_Incremental" and "Win_Incremental."
Apply the newly created backup option set to any other incremental jobs on clients with the same operating system.
