On your existing VTL, blank an expendable tape and return it to a slot. Note which slot you put it in for a later step.
Shut down the Netvault service
Navigate to where the VTL physically resides and open the slots directory.
Create the desired number of slots by creating a folder for each new slot and naming them sequentially. For example, if you currently have 10 slots and want to add 5 more, create 5 new folders with the names of 11,12,13,14 & 15.
Open the folder that corresponds to the slot # that you returned the blank media to in step #1.
Copy that file in to each of the new slots/folders and name the file according to the slot that it is in, Example; you have 10 slots and the bar codes of these tapes are VTL001, VTL002, VTL003, VTL010. You would name the file in the newly created slot folder 11 - VTL011, the file in slot folder 12 - VTL012, etc.
Once you've completed steps 1-6, restart the Netvault service and open Device Management. Your new slots and virtual media should be present and useable.
NOTE:
To add slots to a virtual library on Netvault:Backup version 7.4 and above please refer to solution entitled "How to add slots to an existing Virtual Library (version 7.4 and higher)".
