One or more of the SharePlex processes stops due to the following error: "ORA-12540: TNS:internal limit restriction exceeded".
ORA-12540 generally means that the operating system's resources are too limited for the requested processes.
ORA-12540 can also be a result of the processes parameter in the "init.ora" being too low.
There are four possible resolutions for this problem.
RESOLUTION 1
In the "init.ora" processes should be set to the number of background processes plus one for each connection to the database.
RESOLUTION 2
If the "init.ora" processes parameter seems ok, then you may need to increase the Unix kernel parameters for the maximum number of processes or users (for example, nproc or maxuprc). Check the manuals for the Unix operating system that you are using for the correct parameters.
RESOLUTION 3
The ORA-12540 can also occur if you do not have enough swap space. It may need to increase your swap space.
RESOLUTION 4
Windows NT Server limits the amount of memory used per process to 2gb, the process for the instance could not allocate more memory for new connections. The most significant init.ora settings that are a candidate to reduce the size of the SGA are: db_block_buffers, shared_pool_size, java_pool_size, sort_area_size and sort_area_retained_size
This applies to all versions of SharePlex.
