Users may experience various issues with multifunctional devices (MFPs) during printouts and attempts to use MFP-specific features (faxing, scanning, stapling, etc).
To implement MFP-specific features, manufacturers usually write their drivers in nonstandard manner, which may cause that incorrect values are retrieved by Quest Universal Printing mechanism.
There are several things to try in order to fix that:
- try to upgrade or downgrade device's driver
- try to apply different driver model. For example, switch from PCL6 to PCL5e/c driver or vice versa
- if only printing matters, it sometimes possible to install same MFP device as a simple printer, using somewhat compatible driver (like HP LaserJet 6P or LJ III). This may also lead to printing quality degradation because older drivers may not support high resolutions of the modern devices.
