Is there an error logging/notification option in Automation?
If there is a problem with the automated job is it possible to be notified of this and sent details of the problem when it occurs?
When creating/editing the automation job, there is the section for "Script Settings" in the Automation Script gui. Click on this and set the activity properties.
1. Send Email on Error --- True
2. Attach Log File to Email --- True
3. Set email and server information
4. Logging level --- Verbose
With "Send Email on Error" and "Attach Log File to Email" enabled, the messages logged for the Automation job run will be logged to a file.
The location of the file can be specified in the "Logging Folder" field. Default is set to C:\Users\<personal folder>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad Data Point <version>\Automation (or Automation Publishing).
The name of the log file should be the same as the name of the automation job you're running. If these settings are not enabled, the log will not be saved to file. If the settings are disabled for the automation job, the log file will be removed from the noted Automation directory.
