We are attempting to install the Cartridge for Foglight Experience Monitor (FxM) 5.5. We are following the instructions step-by-step in CartridgeForFxM_Install.pdf for version 5.5. We are not seeing the FxM agent show up as an option when we try to create an agent, as depicted on page 24. The FMS is not aware of FxM.
Our FMS (Foglight Management Server) 5.5 is configured so that it ignores all traffic coming through the 8080 port. Our FMS gets all it's data over port 443 via SSL. The other Foglight cartridges that use fglam for communications allowed us to specify https traffic and other certificate-related parameters. We don't see anything like that on the 'Configure' | 'Appliance' | 'Foglight' page in the FxM web console.
Software Defect. This problem is being tracked as CR0235019. There are some limitations in version 5.5.0 of FxM that will not allow you to configure the Fglam agent to use secure communication to the FMS server. The 'Foglight' screen on FxM web console UI only allows the user to configure the Foglight FMS IP and the http port. There's no way in the UI to specify https instead of http or any of the other options that would go along with it such as 'ssl-allow-self-signed'.
1. Ensure you have applied the 126.96.36.1999082001 hotfix or higher
2. Login to the command line Setup Program as the 'setup' user
3. Escape back to the linux shell (6.Advanced Options | 8.More Advanced Options | 7.Access Shell)
4. Edit this tag (below) of the /home/foglight/Quest_Software/Foglight_Agent_Manager/state/default/config/fglam.config.xml file
<config:http-upstream ssl-cert-common-name=*.yourcompanyname.com" ssl-allow-self-signed="true" url=https://xx.xxx.xx.xxx:443"/>
5. save the changes
Waiting for fix in a future release of Foglight Experience Monitor
Without the 188.8.131.529082001 hotfix, the 'setup' user cannot edit the fglam.config.xml file.
