How do I use Migrator for Notes to Exchange (MNE) to migrate a Notes resource that only has a contact object in Active Directory?
The following steps will allow MNE to create a mailbox-enabled resource directly from the contact:
The MNE Provision wizard (in version 18.104.22.168 and later) has been enhanced to handle this scenario, where only contact objects exist in Active Directory. This option allows for additional customization of the user object that are created, such as creating disabled user objects.
1.) Open the MNE Migration Manager.
2.) Click on the menu button (3 lines in the upper-right).
3.) Enable the Advanced Wizard Settings option, if it isn't already.
4.) Click the Migrate User Data option on the left-hand pane of the MNE Migration Manager.
5.) Select the Collection that includes the Notes resources you wish to migrate.
6.) Click the Migrate button.
7.) On the second screen, click the Edit button.
8.) Search the text file for [ActiveDirectory]
9.) Under the [ActiveDirectory] heading, create a new line.
10.) Add the following parameter:
11.) Locate the following parameter under the same [ActiveDirectory] heading:
12.) Comment out this parameter by placing a "#" in front of it. Example:
13.) Save and Close the text file.
14.) Select the option to Mailbox-enable existing Active Directory accounts.
15.) Complete the MNE migration wizard.
16.) Run throught the MNE migration wizard again to actually migrate the resource data.
Note: Editing the task using the Edit button described above, only changes the parameters for this single task. If you decide to migrate additional resources in the future, you will need to repeat these steps.
MBoxFromContact usage as per page 18 of the NME_Params_Ref.pdf:
Type: boolean. Optional. Default: 0.
Tells the Data Migration Wizard whether to convert a contact into a mailbox
when mailbox enabling. This feature is off (0) by default, since in a typical
scenario no contacts should remain after the AD Object Merging Wizard has run
(to merge contacts into existing AD objects). This feature would therefore be
irrelevant, but in the event any contacts do remain most admins would prefer the
Wizard generate an error rather than simply convert the contact to a mailbox,
which would likely yield two objects for a single user. The parameter permits the
enabling of the feature by:
... for some rare circumstances where the option is preferable.
