What is the Container Permission Equivalence Group (CPEG)?
In NDS, Countries, Orgs, and OUs are security principals and may appear in the file permissions. NDS Migrator re-creates NDS OUs in Active Directory as OUs; however, Active Directory OUs are not security principals.
A Container Permissions Equivalence Group (CPEG) is a security group created in Active Directory by FastLane NDS Migrator to represent former Countries, Orgs, and OUs.
A prefix ($) and a suffix are added to a CPEG name to avoid potential conflicts between similar nested OU names. For example, suppose there are NDS OUs called Sales\Admin and Marketing\Admin. When translated to an Active Directory name, both OUs contain a nested OU called Admin.
FastLane NDS Migrator creates a security group for each OU to apply to file permissions. You can set the scope of the new CPEG group in project options. In this case, there cannot be two global groups with the name $Admin. The Notes attribute for a CPEG is populated with the name of the source NDS container that it represents. The description attribute for a CPEG is populated with Former NDS Country/Organization/OU.
***NOTE - Groups cannot be nested in mixed mode, only in native mode Windows 2000 Domains.
