Change Auditor Client Crashes When Configuring the "Reply To" Field in Email Alerts (4384170)

When attempting to configure the Reply To field under Email Alerts, the Change Auditor client may:

• Crash unexpectedly when applying the configuration.
• Fail to save changes to the Reply To setting.
• Prevent users from modifying Email Alert settings.

The account used to configure Email Alerts does not have sufficient Change Auditor administrative permissions.

To modify Email Alert settings, the user must be a member of the Change Auditor administrative group:

ChangeAuditor Administrators - <ORG>

Without the required permissions, the client may fail to process the configuration change successfully, resulting in errors or client instability.

Add the affected user account to the following Change Auditor group:

ChangeAuditor Administrators - <ORG>

Steps

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers or the appropriate group management tool.
2. Locate the group:
   • ChangeAuditor Administrators - <ORG>
3. Add the affected user account as a member.
4. Allow group membership changes to replicate if necessary.
5. Log off and back on to the Change Auditor client.
6. Reopen the Email Alert configuration.
7. Configure the Reply To field and apply the changes.

Verification

After the account is added to the ChangeAuditor Administrators group:

• The Reply To setting can be configured successfully.
• Changes can be applied without errors.
• The Change Auditor client no longer crashes when saving the setting.

Root Cause

Insufficient permissions prevented the user from modifying Email Alert configuration settings. Granting membership in the ChangeAuditor Administrators group provided the required permissions and resolved the issue.
