This workflow explains how a customer converts an existing license to Quest through the License Portal. Customers will receive an advance notice email from Quest with access details and can complete the conversion by logging in, adding the existing license, and choosing where the converted license should reside.

Steps
Open the advance notice email. Locate the advance notice email from Quest. It contains information about the upcoming license action and a link to the License Portal. Click the portal link to begin.
Log in to the License Portal. Sign in using your Quest credentials. After signing in, you will land on the License Portal homepage.
Start the conversion. From the homepage, select the option labeled Convert existing License to Quest. The portal redirects you to the conversion page.
Add the existing license. On the conversion page, select erwin Data Modeler and add the existing license you want to convert. The license appears in your conversion workflow.
Choose the destination. Select where the converted license should be placed — either your personal account or an Organization account.
Create a destination if needed. If the destination does not exist yet, create a new one directly from the same page without leaving the workflow. Once created, it becomes available for selection.
Complete the conversion. With the license added and destination selected, proceed with the conversion. The license is converted to Quest and assigned to your chosen destination.
Upgrade erwin Data Modeler. Your converted Quest license only works with the latest version of erwin Data Modeler. Download and install the new version from the support portal before using the converted license. Older versions will not recognize the new license.
Review the converted license. After conversion, you can view the license details — for example, a concurrent license with five seats.
Assign users to seats. Go to the Users tab, click Add, and enter the email addresses of the users. Each user receives a notification by email.
Sign in to erwin Data Modeler. Launch erwin Data Modeler and select the Sign In option. This opens your browser. Sign in using your Quest account if prompted. The license is now active.
We recommend keeping the process simple:
First, add the license and complete the conversion
Then decide whether an Organization account is needed afterward
This approach reduces friction and helps customers complete the essential step first: converting the license.
A customer may want to create or use an Organization account if they need to:
consolidate multiple licenses into one place
allow multiple administrators to view and manage licenses
centralize license administration for better visibility and control
If the customer only needs to manage the license individually, their personal account may be sufficient.
