After installing Toad Data Modeler, the application fails to start and displays the following error message:
The application has encountered a problem. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Unable to create directory.
This issue occurs immediately when attempting to launch the application, even on a fresh installation.
This issue is caused by corrupted or invalid user configuration data located in the Toad Data Modeler AppData directory.
The application attempts to create or access required folders during startup, but existing configuration files or folder permissions prevent this process from completing successfully.
To resolve this issue, reset the Toad Data Modeler user configuration by renaming its AppData folder.
Close Toad Data Modeler completely.
Navigate to the following directory:
C:\Users\<Your_User>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\
Locate the folder:
Toad Data Modeler
Rename the folder to:
Toad Data Modeler OLD
Launch Toad Data Modeler.
When prompted, select:
New Configuration
Verify that the application launches successfully.
