Need to know if legacy RC4 Windows authentication deprecation will affect Kace Desktop Authority.
Microsoft has announced the formal retirement of RC4 encryption for Active Directory Kerberos, scheduled for a phased rollout throughout the first half of 2026. This move to AES-SHA1 represents a significant security enhancement; however, it may impact authentication for older infrastructure. Organizations are advised to conduct audits early in the year to ensure a seamless transition and maintain system availability.
Kace Desktop Authority and ExpertAssist do not depend on RC4. As long as the environment supports modern ciphers (e.g., AES/TLS 1.2+), disabling RC4 per Microsoft’s guidance should not impact functionality.
