Error: "Failed to create virtual machine" on the Create and configure virtual machine step of the Forest Recovery project with Azure infrastructure.

During the "Create and configure virtual machine" step while running a Forest Recovery Project that uses Azure Infrastructure (like CleanOS), you get the full error message below related to "Failed to create virtual machine":

 

This appears to be an intermittent error on the Azure side. It has nothing to do with Recovery Manager DRE.

Try to do a "Retry Last" operation; however, you may need to clean up the failed VM first, depending on whether the "Overwrite the VM if exists" option is checked or unchecked in your configuration. You can find this option in the "Infrastructure" tab in the Recovery Project Settings, when configuring a Microsoft Azure infrastructure template:

 

 

SOLUTION 1:

If you DO have this option checked, then simply do a "Retry Last" operation:

 

SOLUTION 2:

If you DO NOT have this option checked, then sign into Azure and manually delete the VM in the "Failed" status before doing a "Retry Last" operation:
