How to change the FglAM to FMS connection port (4382622)

This article describes how to modify the port that a Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) uses to communicate with the Foglight Management Server (FMS). This would be required after an FMS port change.

The connection port between the Fogligth Agent Manager (FglAM) and Foglight Management Server (FMS) can be configured using the configuration interface or by manually editing the configuration file.

Update FglAM to FMS connection details using the configuration interface

1. Stop the Foglight Agent Manager.
2. Start the configuration wizard with $FglAM_HOME/bin/fglam --configure.
3. Follow the wizard prompts, skipping through settings until the Server URLs configuration screen is reached.
   Important: Do not reset the client's identifier (client's ID) when prompted; resetting it cause agents residing on the FglAM not to be activatable.
4. Edit the FMS URL to reflect the new port.
5. Complete the wizard and start the FglAM.

Update FglAM to FMS connection details by editing the configuration file

1. Make a backup of $FglAM_HOME/state/default/config/fglam.config.xml and open the file for editing.
2. Locate the http-upstream element with the url attribute for the FMS URL.
3. Edit the FMS URL to reflect the new port.
4. Save changes and restart the FglAM.

Notes:

• If switching from HTTP to HTTPS, the FMS CA certificates may need to be imported; for more information refer to What are the steps required to use an external signed certificate in the Foglight Management Server? (4254114).
• If using the FglAM embedded within the FMS server, no manual changes are required as the port is automatically adjusted to match the FMS configuration during startup.
