This is caused by defect ID: K1-35998 or by an email misconfiguration.
For an immediate resolution, upgrading to 14.0, 14.1 or 15.0 will clear out the /var partition and prevent the issue from happening again.
Versions with the fix:
As a best practices approach, make sure that on Settings > Control Panel > Network Settings, at the bottom, uncheck the "Enable SMTP Local Server (Inbound)" if this feature is not used, which is to be able to receive email via Exchange Servers. Also if the "Enable SMTP Remote Server (Outbound Relay)" is enabled, make sure that credentials are in place, anonymous connections tend to cause loop/bounce-back issues. More info here.
