What do the column metrics in Query Insights / SQL Profiler represent?
Resolution
The Query Insights panel has the following columns which represent these values
- Query - the SQL query run against the database. The blue bar indicates the impact on the target. The width of the blue bar corresponds to the Impact on the host.
- Impact - this is calculated based on the percentage of statement workload in comparison to the total instance workload.
- Elapsed Time with a bar graph - the number of seconds required to execute a query batch or transaction, determined by such factors as query complexity, server load, and waiting for locks. The minimum, maximum, and average values can be viewed of the elapsed time metrics collected during the time range specified in the Zonar (the time right corner of the page) can be viewed by hovering with the mouse over the bar graph. Each collection point looks at the data from the past 15 minute time range. The three collection points can be viewed in more detail in the Elapsed Panel chart on the right panel when a row is selected. In this example,
  - the lowest value of elapsed time spent during the past hour was 0 ms because the query had not yet run at the earliest time in the range.
  - the higher value of elapsed time spent during the past hour was 5 ms because they query was continuing to run and had not yet completed.
  - the average is the average of the elapsed time values for the three 15 minute time slices when the metric was taken.
- Executions - the number of times a particular query or stored procedure has been executed within the timeframe
- Response Time - the amount of time spent while sessions wait for each database resource, wait types represent the discrete steps in query processing, where a query waits for resources as the instance completes the request.
- Domain - the type of database agent where the monitored query was run
- Target - this corresponds to an identifier of the monitored agent
