Can Spotlight support Azure monitoring and can the Playback and Statistics Repository databases be installed on Azure? (4360648)

Azure SQL family and its support in Spotlight:

1. Azure SQL Database
   1. Monitoring – Fully supported using SQL Azure connection type.
   2. Spotlight Playback and SSR databases deployed in Azure SQL database – Not supported. (see notes*)
2. SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines
   1. Monitoring – Fully supported using SQL Server connection type.
   2. Spotlight Playback and SSR databases deployed in SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines – Supported.
3. Azure SQL Managed Instance
   1. Monitoring – Fully supported using Azure SQL Managed Instance connection type.
   2. Spotlight Playback and SSR databases deployed in Azure SQL Managed Instance – supported. (see notes**)

* Support of Spotlight Playback and SSR databases deployed in Azure SQL databases/instances submitted for consideration in a future release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.

** Azure Managed Instance monitoring and PB/SSR are both supported now as version 14.0
