Multiple Management Servers listed on the "Choose a Foglight Server" drop down option list (4354632)

From the "Foglight Web Console | Management Server | Servers | Management Server View" dashboard on a single Management Server (FMS) environment, the "Choose a Foglight Server" drop down option lists multiple Management Servers. An example of the entries is:

• FMS_IPAddress:1099
• FMS_hostname:1099
• FMS_IPAddress:1099 (this could be an IP address that the FMS had previously)

The main reason this drop down box exists is to list and give the ability to choose different Management Servers in a Federated environment. There may be cases when the IP address has been changed on a Management Server (FMS) and the object with the old identifier remains.

Notes:

• Do not remove the entries for the current FMS_IPAddress and current FMS_hostname.
• If the old listing displays older performance metrics and these are needed, the entry should not be removed; when the object is deleted, the related metrics are purged during the Management Server database maintenance jobs. The following procedure deletes the old object, but does not merge the data with the remaining ones.

How to remove the stale CatalystServer (FMS Server) topology object:

From the "Admin Console | Administration | Tooling | Script Console" dashboard:

1. Find the uniqueId associated with the undesired CatalystServer by clicking List Instances in the Script Console on object 'CatalystServer' and take note of the uniqueId which corresponds to old FMS address; for example:

   

2. Select the Scripts tab and click the + sign to run a query box:

   server.TopologyService.deleteObject(server.TopologyService.getObject("UNIQUEID HERE"))

3. The old FMS address entry under "Choose Foglight Server" on any dashboards with this option should now be gone.

The other types of entries that are displayed in the "Choose Foglight Server" drop down list are for Federated Servers.
