PFTA log contains the following error:
ProfileLogon Error 166 Failed to get administrative access to the Public Folders
PF sync is not working
One of possible reasons - third party software like Backup Software is running on target Exchange server and is interfering with EMW so EMW can not access the folders because the software hold or left a MAPI connection open.
If this is the case - stop the software which is accessing the PF's and try to dismount and mount the PF store, then start the PFTA again.
Often the error indicates there is lack of permissions on the target Exchange server.
Verify that the service account under which the PF Target Agent is running on the target server is
1) Local administrator on the target server
2) Has Full control over the PF store and Private store
3) Can log on to the mailbox which is specified as Administrator mailbox for the PF sync job.
Some times, if the permissions were granted recently, the Exchange server is not yet aware of the changes made. To make the server aware of the permissions changes you may try restarting the information store service on the target Exchange server.
Also following steps could be tried:
1.On the console machine where EMW console is installed, please run MS Outlook under EMWPFTA account and try to log on to the PFTA administrative mailbox, then try to open each folder which is in the synch.
2. Open the EMWLibs.log for PFTA from Target Server (located in PFTA folder) and verify the CDO version is correct.
Another test could be:
1. Login into Exchange server with EMW service account used to run PF agent on this server.
2. Run MFCMAPI tool from Microsoft (this tool is officially recommended to use by MS, it does not require an installation and can be used on Exchange servers safely):
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=291794.
3. Login into Administrator accounts mailbox specified on PF sync job.
4. See if PF Store is accessible.
Note: MFCMAPI comes with excellent documentation.
