Windows (WMI) connection error: WMI error 80070005: Access is denied
permissions
This error indicates that either the users credentials are wrong (wrong name or password) or the user doesnt have permission to make WMI connections.
The first thing to try is to ensure the credentials are passed in full. In the OS username field, prefix the user name with either the domain or the server name. So DOMAINNAME\thomasm will specify that user as defined on the domain; or PRODDB012\thomasm will specify the user as defined on the database server being monitored.
If a connection still fails, you should try running wmimgmt.msc, and making a connection from that. You can specify the computer to connect to and the user to connect as and then select properties. If you get the same "Access Denied" error, then you do not have rights, and this is duplicating what Spotlight says. You should click the Change button, and find a user that works, which can then be entered into the Spotlight connection profile.
