Does MessageStats require Message Tracking to be enabled on the Exchange Servers?
Message Tracking needs to be enabled for MessageStats to report on email activity and message-related events occurring on or between Exchange servers.
For Exchange 2007 and later, Message Tracking is enabled by default on all servers that have the Hub Transport or Edge Transport role. However, the MessageTracking folder where the tracking logs are written is not shared by default. In order for MessageStats to gather the tracking logs on Exchange 2007 and later servers, the MessageTracking folder, on each server that has the Hub Transport and Edge Transport roles, needs to be manually shared and the MessageStats service account needs to be given read rights to the share.
