What are the requirements for installing Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise version 7 onto VM server?
Resolution

Spotlight can be installed without issue provided the VM is configured like a physical server, i.e. has the minimum resources required per the Getting Started Guide and Deployment Guide. Diagnostic Server should be monitored to help identify issues with Virtualization Overhead leading to bottlenecks or slowdowns.
Generally on should allocate static memory to the VM (and not have it dynamically assigned), ensure the I/O channel is not virtualized, and then roll out servers slowly to ensure the VM is indeed behaving like a physical server.
