Cause
Lack of resources.
The call stack (error message) is indicating a failure in a Windows API call. This generally suggests to us a PC resource starvation issue.

Try to reboot the client PC where the Spotlight is installed. Check out Spotlight on a different, more lightly loaded, PC - with more resources.

If that was done already There is a registry setting relating to desktop heap depletion that can cause resource problems when multiple processes, in particular, multiple copies of Internet Explorer are being run.See the following blog posting: http://weblogs.asp.net/kdente/archive/2004/06/04/148145.aspx?CommentPosted=trueTo make the change, navigate regedit to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Session Manager\\SubSystems. The "Windows" value contains a big string, and one part of it is "SharedSection=xxxx,yyyy,zzzz". The second number (yyyy) is the one that you want to increase - for example, increase it to 8192.
