Description
WebSphere Application Version 8.5.5.9 with 1.7 JDK, JVM failed to start after Foglight has been configured and getting the following error:
ERROR: 2016-09-14 12:08:01.494 FATAL The current Java VM is a different version to that which was originally preinstrumented; Please rerun the PreInstrumentor on the current Java VM and restart this Agent; Property java.version was "1.6.0", current is "1.7.0" -
Cause
Caused by Incompatible Java version using in application and Websphere.
Application requirement was set to JDK 1.7 for JVM, but nexus log showed it was using JDK 1.6. e.gjava.home = /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/java/jrejava.vm.info = JRE 1.6.0 Linux amd64-64 Compressed References 20151222_283040 (JIT enabled, AOT disabled) -
Resolution
The issue is resolved after setting JAVA1.7 for the entire WebSphere Profile.
Verify that Java Development Kit 1.7 is now used by the profile:- You can check by logging into the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console and selecting the following options: Application servers | server1 | Java SDKs
- You can check by using the managesdk command. e.g WAS_install_path\bin\managesdk.bat -listEnabledProfile -profileName profile_name
