Unable to validate SQL Server when trying to browse or select a SQL server during discovery creation (4338504)

The following message may occur when trying to browse or select a known SQL server during the SQL discovery creation:

“Unable to validate the SQL information you entered.  Verify that you typed the information correctly, and that you have access to the resource.”

• Firewall is enabled on the SQL server.
• The account specified in the discovery does not have rights or permissions to access the target SQL Server.

Ensure that the firewall allows SQL Server through the firewall or that there is an inbound rule for port 1433 in the advance firewall settings as in Window 2008 R2 or Windows 2012.

Also make sure the account specified to collect data on the target SQL Server have the rights to access it.
