Please note that you can only upgrade gradually; it means from 7.0 to 7.6, and then to 8.1, and then to 8.5.1 and to 9.0 and to 9.5.2, and then to 10.01
Upgrade Procedure:
1. Back up the Agent directory on the Diagnostic Server. Like with any software upgrade, it is recommended that you back up important Spotlight data before beginning the upgrade process. The default location of the Agent directory to be backed up is:
..\Quest Software\Diagnostic Server\Agent
2. Stop the Quest Diagnostic Server service and then backup both databases (Playback and Spotlight Statistics Repository dbs)
3. On the Spotlight client machine, run the Spotlight on SQL Server executable of the next version (as per above).
(please note : the Playback database and Spotlight Statistics Repository are upgraded automatically)
4. You can upgrade only from Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise that is supported in this order:
7.0 to 7.6 to 8.0 or 8.1 to 8.5.1 to 9.0 to 9.5.2 to 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 to 11.1.1 to 11.2
After each upgrade give a 2-5 minutes for the databases to finish upgrading and make sure everything works before going to the next one.
Keep your backed up files for few days before deleting until you are sure that eveything works.
