Is Blowfish 64 bit encryption is used with Spotlight on RAC to encrypt the Oracle DB, OS, and ASM credential file ?
Is the symmetric encryption key stored in the same directory as the file that stores the Oracle DB, OS, and ASM credential file?
Yes, we are still using 64bit Blowfish and it will be available in a future release for backwards compatibility to read old data. We haven’t released new Spotlight on Oracle with the AES 256 update yet , but it is coming in the 9.0 release with the encryption method to be updated to AES 256 bit encryption.
In regards to the second question, the answer is - No, the symmetric encryption key is not stored with the encrypted data.
