Issue
When sending a user to migrate, you see in the status bar of the Notes client "Failed to Validate: ShortName". The user will either then show a status of Migrated with Errors or Ready to Migrate but they never migrated at all and there is not a log for them.
Solution
The problem was because the user had 2 internet addresses listed in the Notes Migrator (CMTe) person document. or there is a leading or trailing space or carriage return in the ShortName field.
Edit the Notes Migrator person document and remove the extra address or spaces. Save the person document, then perform the following based on your version of our product.
If this does not resolve the problem, then open this user's person document, click on the 'All NAB fields' tab. Check the 'Department' and 'Employee ID' fields for leading, trailing spaces, and remove them.
For 4.x and newer versions
Change to the Advanced Migration view
Select the users to clear their back-end SQL user records
Click 'Clear or Reset user(s) - Remove backend user record" view action
If this does not work, delete the Notes Migrator person document for this user, and import the user again, follow the steps for Matching, Set the Migration Profile
Edit the person document, and perform data hygiene
Add a unique value to the end of the ShortName field value, "CMT" or "XYZ"
This will set a new record with a new CMTKey value
Save the document
Run a migration
For 3.8.x:
Open SQL Management Studio
Open the CMTe database
Open the 'CMT_User' table
Delete all the user entries that had the issue
Close SQL management studio
For 3.7.x and older versions of CMTe
Open the CMT_Universal.MDB, file (located: C:\Program Files\BinaryTree\CMT Universal\CMT_XMLServer\App_Data ). MS Access must be installed to view file.
Open the 'CMT_User' table,
Delete all the user entries that had the issue.
---------------------------------------------------
Restart IIS on the Migration Control Center (MCC), via iisreset command prompt
Select the user(s) and place them into the migration queue
The migrations should start.
