Toad doesn't start, but starts when running it as a different user -
Description
When starting Toad for Oracle, the program, the Toad.exe program appears in the Windows Task Manager for a while and then disappear. However, using CTRL+SHIFT and right-click on Toad to run as a different user works fine.
No errors are reported and no event are found in the Event Manager.
Reinstalling Toad does not resolve the issue.
An older version of Toad (11.x) was already installed before installing Toad for Oracle version 12.12. -
Cause
This issue is caused by user files located in an AppData Roaming folder from previous Toad for Oracle installations, with the newer version of Toad trying to load the settings from it and silently crashing. -
Resolution
RESOLUTION
Please follow steps in KB122182 and make sure to rename both below folders:
"C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle""C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Dell\Toad for Oracle"
