I would like to know if installing Foglight on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platforms VMs such as Azure or AWS a supported configuration?
With limited control over the hypervisor for resource reservation, will the Foglight services perform properly and be supported as long as the VMs are sized the same or larger than the listed requirements for the on-premise installation?
The Foglight Management Server and/or Foglight Agent Manager are supported to be installed in IaaS environments when they are sized the same or larger than the listed requirements for the on-premise installation and the virtual machines are running a supported Operating System.
Reservations are irrelevant in cloud machines, in other words, you get the resources that you pay for in Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure installations. Amazon does have the option of “EC2 Reserved Instances” but this is different compared to VM resource reservations.
