The problem you are seeing with Spotlight is because of the 1219 error, which happened because of OS limitation described in the following article.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B173199 and the reason of this error occurring is you are already connected to the monitored box.
Alternatively you can use IP-address for establishing SoW-connection instead of box-name. We have double-checked this workaround on our machines after reproducing the error and it works fine. For more details please contact Microsoft directly.
