When trying to register a source using a third party software the following error occurs: "Microsoft Exchange server is installed on the Computer running Recovery Manager for Exchange".
Take the following steps to resolve this issue:
1. Stop and disable the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant (MSExchangeSA), Microsoft Exchange Information Store (MSExchangeIS) and MSExchangeDS services (Exchange 5.5 only).
2. Using Regedit remove the following Exchange registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDS (Exchange 5.5 only)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EXIFS registry key - Exchange 2000 and later only.
