StoragePoint: Changing the Physical Location of Blob Store
Description
Summary :This article describes how to change the physical location of blob store.
Symptom
The current fileshare array is full and a decision has been made not to extend it. Instead, a new file system space with more data is being provided. So, there is a need to move all the blobs physically from the old to the new location.
Cause
Limited storage capacity in the existing BLOB store.
Resolution
Browse to Central Admin > Monitoring > Review Jobs - Locate the StoragePoint timer jobs and disable all of them.
Set Externalization to NO on the Storage Profile and save it. This would mean the "StoragePoint" drop down won't be available on the items until Externalization is set back to YES in step 5.
Copy the contents from the old to the new NAS. Ensure all the structure is copied the way it is and that the New NAS (endpoint) has the same permissions as the old one.
Open the Storage and backup endpoints page and change the Path of the EndPoint. Click "Test Storage" to check if it's successful and save it. Depending on the version you will receive a popup, Choose Update on the Pop up that comes and click OK. Do Not choose "New".
Set Externalization to YES on the profile and ensure "StoragePoint Details" shows up on the items
Browse to Central Admin > Monitoring > Review Jobs - Locate the StoragePoint timer jobs and enable all of them.
Run Bulk externalize job, to externalize the content that got stored in the Content Database. You can access this job by clicking "Jobs" link beside the Storage Profile
For the affected profile, run the BLOB Health Analyzer from the Storage Profiles > Jobs page to allow StoragePoint to correct any internal tracking references that have changed.
