Foglight.xdl unable to open from SQL Server Management Studio -
Description
When generate foglight.xdl from Database deadlock dashboard and open it from SSMS, there is error occurred where it stated :-
Failed to initialize deadlock control.
Key cannot be null.
Parameter name: key

Cause
It was due to the incorrect foglight.xdl formatting. Right click on the foglight.xdl and choose edit.
Originally the file content as follow :-<deadlock-list><deadlock><victim-list/><process-list><process id="process57ef22d848" taskpriority="0" logused="10000" waittime="631" schedulerid="3" kpid="8100" status="suspended" spid="89" sbid="0" ecid="8" priority="0" trancount="0" lastbatchstarted="2021-03-22T09:31:43.577" lastbatchcompleted="2021-03-22T09:31:43.577" lastattention="1900-01-01T00:00:00.577" clientapp="LiteSpeed"...... -
Resolution
It can be resolved by edit the foglight.xdl file and add below line-
<deadlock-list><deadlock><victim-list><victimProcess id="process57ef22d848" /></victim-list><process-list><process id="process57ef22d848" taskpriority="0" logused="10000" waittime="631" schedulerid="3" kpid="8100" status="suspended" spid="89" sbid="0" ecid="8" priority="0" trancount="0" lastbatchstarted="2021-03-22T09:31:43.577" lastbatchcompleted="2021-03-22T09:31:43.577" lastattention="1900-01-01T00:00:00.577" clientapp="LiteSpeed"......After we save it, the file can be opened on SSMS
