What happens to the monitored enviornment when a change to the hostname or ip address on fglam client takes place
fglam IP Address change: this type of change is transparent to the FMS. the primary way that the FMS keeps track of clients for monitoring purposes is by hostname. There will be no change to the agents or historical data associated with a monitored host where the ip address has changed.
fglam Hostname change: a new Host Topology object will be created in the monitor model. This client will essentially be seen as a "new" client and data will be collected under this new name. The new name will be seen in the dashboards. Historical data from this host must be viewed under the context of the old hostname. Note: In Foglight 5.5, there is a feature coming that will allow for merging of the two Host Topology objects into a single Host, which will allow the data from hostname1 to be associated with new hostname2.
