Hostname property in silent install giving random FQDN
Description
Customer is getting random hostnames assigned when they are not specifying the hostname in a Foglight silent install. They'd like to know how that field - hostname- is discovered during install when not using the --host-display-name option and are there any registry keys (in the case of a Windows host) that the installation is looking at?
Cause
THE DNS tables the host is using have been pointing to a name that the Foglight silent install used and was deemed by customer to be the old name.
Resolution
Using nslookup ip# helped in identifying that the host number is being associated with the respective hostname.
Refreshing the DNS tables following their IT recommendations helepd in resolving this issue.
