How to import connections for a flat file (4318684)

1. In Connection Manager open Discovery Wizard.
2. It will default to the radio button "Discover SQL Server instances from the network".
3. Change this to the radio button "Import SQL Server instances from a file".
4. Then click on the Browse button to complete the path to the text file.
5. Click next.
6. The connections in the text file appear in the Discovery Wizard.
7. Select all desired connection and follow the prompts.

The layout of the text file is very simple, and only requires the instance name for Windows Authentication.  For SQL Server Authentication you can provide the user and password separated by commas.

EXAMPLE:

mel601123\SQL2008
Mel601123,user,password
mel601123\SQL2008,user,password

This can only be used for SQL Server connections.  It will automatically link a windows connection to the SQL Server connections. User has the option to include the Window
