NTFS Permissions for Windows NT and Windows 2000
NTFS is the file system used in Windows since the advent of Windows 3.31. Since inception there have been numerous small changes to the file system to add manageability for the administrators. Among these changes was the breaking out or granularization of the original permissions found in Windows 3.51 to what we commonly see available under the Advanced button in the Sharing and Security applet on all Windows based computers utilizing the NTFS format.
These permissions are exposed in ScriptLogic’s Enterprise Security Reporter (ESR) and Security Explorer (SXP).
