The share exists on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. NAS storage systems are typically created using Linux block level file systems via the Common Internet File System (CIFS).
When CIFS shares are intially created on the device, the Administrator is presented with the option of creating permissions as
a. NTFS
b. Linux
c. Mixed
If either 'Linux' or 'Mixed' is chosen, permissions are stored in non-NTFS permissions and interpreted for the console browser by the Microsoft Windows operating system.
There is no resolution because there is no impact on the Windows file system. The files and folders are displayed with the correct permissions.
This is a minor issue with displaying the permissions using a printed array.
The only workaround would be to back up the data, delete the shares on the storage device, recreate them as 'NTFS' file shares and restore the data.
