Issue
When performing an audit on a user mail file, we receive the error "Could not create field NewMembers" and the user is not moved to the notify stage.
Solution
The problem is with a particular 'Group' document in the user's ($Contacts) view inside their mail file.
Open the user's mail file and hold down the Shift and Ctrl key, you will be able to see the hidden views in the mail file.
Select view - Go To from the GUI menu in the Notes client and go to "($Contacts)" view.
When the admin tries to open one particular group document they get an error "You are not authorized to perform that operation".
Although the admin has manager access to the mail file they cannot open or delete this document. This document is the problem. What the admin can do is to open the Domino Admin client, find and highlight the users mail file and choose "Administration/Full Administrative rights".
This will allow the admin to remove the problem group document and then perform the audit again.
This time with the absence of the problem document, the audit proceeds without error.
