EPW (Exchange Processing Wizard) not updating permissions on Exchange server (4316368)

When running the Exchange processing Wizard to update exchange permissions on an exchange server it is noticed that no permissions are updated, and when trying to expand the mailboxes in the processing task (under Select Objects | Process Selected objects only | Select objects) the window hangs as per the below screen shot:

Such a behavior can be caused if a one of the objects having a mailbox on the exchange server has either an empty primary SMTP or of the @ sign is missing from the primary SMTP address.

Locate such objects and fix the issue, the following LDAP query can be ran on the global catalog where the exchange server resides, the query should return objects with empty primary SMTP:

(&(mailNickName=*)(msExchHomeServerName=/o=ltsbafd/ou=first administrative group/cn=configuration/cn=servers/cn=<servername>)(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(proxyAddresses=SMTP:))

(ensure that before running the search in LDP, in the search box click on "Options" and type proxyAddresses in the Attributes text box)
