Is it possible to use Virtual Port Mirroring on the Virtual Distributed Switch (vDS) instead of "Promiscuous mode" to capture traffic packet information?

Resolution
The port mirroring (aka SPAN port) approach is likely to result in dropped packets (even under light loads) which will negatively impact the integrity of the data the system collects. Based on this, the approach is not recommend.

Additional Information
With regards to Foglight APM, it is not a matter of "supporting" or "not supporting" the method by which the sniffer gets its traffic feed. Nothing needs to be configured differently in the system regardless of which technique is used.
