Web Application takes a long time to expand (4316047)

It takes a long time or only a spinning circle is displayed when expanding a WAP in the SharePoint Hierarchy of the ControlPoint application.

By default, objects (e.g. site collections) in the SharePoint Hierarchy are retrieved from the server as they are requested by users. In addition to that, ControlPoint performs security trimming as soon as a parent node (e.g. WAP) is opened. So, if the WAP has a large number of site collections and depending on the performance of the server, network and browser, it may take time for ControlPoint to display them.

1. Open the ControlPoint Configuration Site (e.g. http://servername:1818).
2. Select the ControlPoint Settings list and expand the Navigation category.

   

3. Edit and set the PRELOADSITECACHE and/or PostponeSecurityTrim parameter/s  to true.

   

4. Recycle the ControlPoint application pool in IIS Manager.
