Issue
PDF attachments in one mail message are not getting migrated across. An EML attachment is added to the email (file contains no content).
Analysis
Notes Migrator uses MIME data to process the message body when possible, but for this message, attachments never show up in the MIME data retrieved from Notes. The root cause seems to be a result of the attachments being stored as ‘r4 style’ attachments in the problem message. ‘r4 style’ attachments is a bit of an esoteric term seen in the Notes help forums, meaning
• the attachments all appear at the end of the message instead of in the body of the message
• the attachments appear as $FILE objects in the message document but do not appear in the MIME data
Also, the body of the original message does not appear in the MIME data, which is why the migrated messages contains 1-byte .EML attachment.
Workaround
There are two solutions to work around this limitation:
1. These attachments can be downloaded to the users local drive from the Notes email. These files can be attached to an Outlook email if these files need to be sent in the future.
2. The user can email (forward) the Notes message(s) to their Exchange mailbox.
