This article provides information about the issues found in Recovery Manager for Exchange 4.6.1 after the product release. For each issue, the article includes an ID (TF number), which identifies the issue, a brief description of the problem, and a workaround, if any exists, for the problem.

When you attempt to register an Exchange database from a backup held on an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 server, the registration operation may fail with an error message containing the following text:
"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."
WORKAROUND
Retry the Exchange database registration operation.

A compare operation may unexpectedly stop running, returning the following error:
"An entry with the same key already exists."
This problem occurs if you perform the compare operation on a soft-deleted item and a user item that are identified by the same name.
WORKAROUND
Do not perform compare operation on soft-deleted items:
1. Open the Settings dialog box (select the "Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange" console tree root, then select "Action | Settings" from the main menu).
2. Make sure the "Soft-deleted items" check box is cleared under "Show, search, and restore" on the Preferences tab.
3. Click OK to close the Settings dialog box.
4. Rerun the compare operation.

When registering multiple Exchange Server stores from backups held on an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 server, you may encounter the following unexpected behavior: The registration operation completes without any errors, however, Recovery Manager fails to register some of the Exchange Server stores you have selected for registration.
WORKAROUND
Register only one Exchange Server store at a time.

In a scenario where you register Exchange Server stores from two or more storage groups by using the Exchange Emulation feature, you may encounter the following unexpected result: Log files are not applied to some of the Exchange Server stores being registered.
WORKAROUND 1
Use the Exchange Emulation feature to register Exchange Server stores from only one storage group at a time.
WORKAROUND 2
To register Exchange Server stores from multiple storage groups, use the direct access method. For more information about this method, see "Option: Access Exchange and/or Domino Backups Directly" in the User Guide supplied with Recovery Manager for Exchange 4.6.1.

You may encounter the following problem when registering an Exchange Server database from a snapshot backup created with Symantec Backup Exec:
The registration operation completes without any errors or warnings, but no new storages appear under the "Source Storages" node in the console tree.
WORKAROUND
1. Use Symantec Backup Exec to extract the Exchange database you want to register from the backup. For more information, see the documentation for your version of Backup Exec.
2. Use the "Access offline Exchange database, Domino databases, or .pst files" option in the Add Storage Wizard to register the database you extracted in step 1. For more information, see "Option: Access Exchange and/or Domino Backups Directly" in the User Guide supplied with Recovery Manager for Exchange 4.6.1.

Exchange Emulation may fail to start, returning an error that includes the following text:
"Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."
You may encounter this problem when using Recovery Manager on a computer running the Windows 2000 Server or Windows XP operating system.
WORKAROUND
Install and use Recovery Manager on a Windows Server 2008-, Windows Server 2003-, or Windows Vista-based computer.
