How to launch Spotlight on Oracle from within Toad for Oracle. Spotlight cannot be launched from within Toad.

Spotlight on Oracle is included in the Toad DBA Suite for Oracle installation bundle but it is considered a seperate application. Make sure that it was selected for installation in the install wizard.

There are 2 ways to launch Spotlight:

1. Launch from All Programs.

Go to Start | All Programs | Quest Software | Spotlight to launch Spotlight on Oracle.

or

2. Launch from within Toad for Oracle:

The Spotlight icon is available in 2 locations within Toad for Oracle. Go to... 
- Database | Monitor | Database Probe | Click on round icon
- Database | Monitor | Server Statistics | Click on round icon

Note:

If Spotlight cannot be launched from within Toad (either you get an error or nothing happens after clicking the icon from within Toad), verify that Spotlight is installed properly. Can it be launched on it's own through Start menu? If it is installed, verify the version of Spotlight installed. If the version of Spotlight is considerably older than Toad, upgrade Spotlight.

Also verify that the Toad license key registered in Toad is specifically a DBA Suite key. If it does not note "DBA Suite" for the specific "Active" license within Toad's Help | Licensing window, Spotlight cannot be launched from within Toad.

Keep in mind when you are in Spotlight, you may also need to verify what license is also applied within there and check to see if you have the same Toad DBA Suite license.
