I've created work in a Project in an install of Toad for Data Analysis and need to move to another install. Is it possible to copy this Project when I move? This will be on a new computer and the files and locations of objects may be changed.
The files have been moved and exist, but the project still points to the old file locations. How can Toad be redirected to the new file location? When trying to access the file it only gives "file not found" error and no other options are available for that file. It is now grayed out.
The Project file can be copied from one computer to another and accessed by any install of Toad. But the files associated to the project created in the first install would need to be located in the equivalent location on the new computer.
The individual Project file (tpf file) stores the paths for the associated files of the projects. It can be opened and edited.
The Project Manager file (tpf file) can be saved and accessed from anywhere but by default they can be found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\%appversion%\ModuleSettings\<project name>.tpf
WORKAROUND 1:
Open the project in TDA, manually add the same files again from the current location to the project. Remove the previous file with the old path and save the changes.
WORKAROUND 2:
Manually adjust the Project file and find/replace all the old paths with the new paths to the files after the move.
Open the tpf file for the project you need as text (i.e. Notepad) and edited the path for each file that has been moved. It should be redirected to the new/current path of the associated files on the new computer (or on the network). Be careful of formatting and typos.
*Note: Exit out of TDA completely before altering the tpf file.
Once altered and saved, launch TDA, load the new Project file into Product Manager. If redirected correctly, the associated files should be accessible from within TDA's Project Manager and should note the new path.
STATUS:
Enhancement request ER84020 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Toad for Data Analysts.
