DBSS_Throughput collection causes high IO or throws a stack heap dump in SQL Server. Errors looking similar to the following can be found in the SQL Server agent log file.

ERROR [AGENTNAME-lowPriorityPool-7-[DBSS_Throughput][]] com.quest.qsi.fason.core.collection.processor.InstanceProcessor - Failed to run DBSSThroughputProcessor processor of DBSS_Throughput collection.

Resolution

By default all new installations since the 5.7.5.30 release of the cartridge has disabled the DBSS_Throughput collection because it is no longer used when we removed the welcome page.

New database agents beginning in 5.7.5.50 and higher are created with this collection disabled (screenshot is attached), the enhancement was SSFOG-70.

The collection was disabled because it was found to cause massive I/O on some SQL Server instances.

The collection was not completely removed because some customers still relied on the topology.
